It is a pleasure to introduce to you, my Daughter Lorren.
Lorren herself is also a very talented artist, as she is very into anime and is often commisioned to undertake portraits of people, families, children and even pets into her style of anime. Check it out
To help us both out, Lorren will learn what I have learnt in over 37 years, literally on the fly. Thrown right in the deep end, I said come up with your first design, so she did... one of her favourite gaming characters, Sonic. The idea behind this design is sonic just as he becomes "Sonic".. as he turns into the supersonic ball...
even her design in photoshop was pretty cool..
We tweeked the design a little, together, so the curves worked with the positioning of the pickups etc. We cut the top on the CNC, but then Lorren cut out the back by hand on the bandsaw.
Shaping the sides by hand
Using the English Wheel to create an arched top, and the bead roller to taper the edge of the hair spikes
Tack Welded
