So back in the early to Late 1980s, back in my UK Home town of Plymouth, I was heavily into BMX. This led me into motorbikes, and then into making performance bike exhausts from 1998 to present.. I have always checked out the latest goings on, over the years in the BMX world. Recently a Facebook friend who like me was and still is into the BMK Kulture, tipped me off with a re release of the 1980s classic GT Performer. Except the difference was it was a 26 inch wheel version with the exact geometry. Within a Week I had one. That was it !!! I created a facebook page called BMX Old Timers for us over 40s going on 14.. I soon realised I am not the oldest, and there is a huge following for the old school and mid school bikes. I recently managed to source a show condition 0riginal 1985 GT Pro World Tour Bike. This was the bike that the legend that was and still is "EDDIE FIOLA" had, or one of. So soon enough I got to meet the friendliest of guys still involved heavily in the scene, I find out that in December 2016, the one and only Eddie Fiola will be in Adelaide.
I contacted Eddie, and what a luvly guy he is. I said I want to make a BMX Themed guitar, and just has to be based on him.. He Said " I WOULD LOVE TO SEE AN EDDIE FIOLA GUITAR". I said, ok, you're on..
This guitar is a total different concept, using 2 inch mandrel bent tube as the frame of the bike and the guitar.
Tracey, my wife had a huge input on the design. There were a few major iconic parts of the bike I had to include, these Eddie himself had input on, in the 80s in the actual design of the GT Performer.
firstly was the bent down tube where it met the head tube, then there was the serial number that all so many collectors are very precise about, on the rear drop out where the wheel is bolted on. Next was the twin top tube platform, used in many of the tricks.
